How Cold Laser Therapy Helps You Heal More Quickly

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if recovery from injury or illness happened immediately when you’re treated? Of course it would, but the reality is that treatment is a midpoint between injury and health. Your body’s healing abilities are remarkable, but sometimes they’re not as fast as you’d like.

The field of regenerative medicine seeks to help your body heal more quickly, improving its efficiency while reducing your downtime for recovery. Following this principle, the team at Dr. Kochert Pain & Health offers the Theralase® cold laser system to tap into the benefits of regenerative medicine and help you heal more quickly.

What medical lasers do

Lasers have revolutionized plenty of medical fields, from surgery to aesthetics. One of the reasons for this is the versatility that lasers offer. Their abilities to perform aesthetic treatments and make precise incisions during surgery are only a few of their uses.

Low level laser therapy (LLLT) doesn’t damage or cut tissue. Instead, it serves as a stimulator. Cold laser therapy is another name for LLLT.

Energy and wavelength of cold lasers

We use the Theralase system, which has two wavelengths of 905 and 660 nanometers (nm). This creates several healing benefits that speed your recovery.

The 905 nm beam is a true cold laser, delivered in short pulses of 200 nanoseconds. This portion of the Theralase treatment penetrates deeply, up to five inches if necessary, without appreciably warming your tissue.

The 660 nm beam penetrates down to about two inches, targeting tissue closer to the surface.

The effects on your body

Cold laser treatments with Theralase produce a variety of effects on your body, each producing positive reactions in your tissues, such as:

Though your individual response may vary, most patients experience these effects.

Dr. Carolyn Kochert may recommend Theralase for a variety of issues, such as knee pain and wound healing.

Theralase applications

Ideally suited for soft-tissue injuries such as tennis elbow, Theralase also helps with more advanced degenerative conditions such as arthritis.

Traumatic brain injuries, including concussion, often improve with treatment. Theralase may reduce symptoms of other conditions, including dementia, migraines, and PTSD in some patients. Burns, scars, and other wounds also heal faster.
